Allison Liu is a professional, Suzuki-certified trained cellist, pianist, and music educator. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she built her musical foundation under the tutelage of Irene Sharp, Jihee Kim, Kevin Yu, and Alison Lee, and furthered her training under Professor Sarah Koo Freeman at the University of California, Irvine. She holds a B.M. in Cello Performance and a B.S. in Informatics from UC Irvine, and graduated with a M.S. in Information from the University of Michigan.
Now establishing her studio in Austin, Texas, her artistic voice is driven by a dedication to pedagogy and community healing. She is a Suzuki certified teacher (Book 1, June 2026) who is open to providing both cello and music theory lessons. Beyond the cello, Allison's decade of piano study and achievement of the California Certificate of Merit Level 10 broaden her musical versatility.
Allison performs in various ensembles, recently serving as the principal cellist for the University of Michigan Campus Philharmonic Orchestra during the 2024-2025 season. She has also performed as the Assistant Principal Cellist for the UCI Symphony Orchestra, where she coached her section and collaborated closely with conductors and fellow musicians.
As a passionate chamber musician, Allison has an extensive background performing in diverse ensembles ranging from piano trios, string quartets to piano quartets.
Dedicated to community impact, Allison performs with The Endpin Project to raise funds for global humanitarian relief. She also served as a Music Educator for the STROKESTRA rehabilitation program, helping stroke survivors achieve a 100% reported improvement in overall well-being. Whether teaching in her private studio or previously as a Music Camp Educator for youth with disabilities, she consistently fosters an inclusive and supportive environment for all her students.
